ATLANTA, GA - In case you are not familiar with my SEO recruiting work, since 2004 I have worked extensively in the online retailing space. My typical candidate works for an Internet Retailer Top 500 company, and they are some of the smartest internet marketing executives on earth. Many of them are honest-to-gosh search engine experts. For real.
A couple of years ago, several of my SEO recruiting clients pointed out that I would get a lot more traction in search engines if I owned the generic phrase domain for any recruiting category in which I wanted to compete.
It was a simple idea: Wanna be a management recruiter? Buy ManagementRecruiter.com. Wanna work as a finance recruiter? Simple: FinanceRecruiter.com. Are you a marketing headhunter? How about MarketingHeadhunter.com? For any self-respecting search engine expert who reads this blog, this may seem like a no brainer. And it is.
Anyway, in the last three years, I have amassed an inventory of >600 domains. Most of those are oriented towards the executive recruiting space -- and the recruiting domains I don't own are real Long Tailers with very little type-in potential.
But now I'm beginning to branch out into unrelated categories -- buying domains that have nothing to do with SEO recruiting. Some of them might have potential as the online homes of integrated marketing campaigns. For example, imagine buying DazedandConfused.com (which I don't own) as the centerpiece of a YouTube / offline TV campaign for Alka Seltzer. Interestingly enough, the domain DazedandConfused.com already has a non-Led Zep redirect associated with it.
What's in a Name?
I will keep a running Typelist called "Domains for Lease" on the left had side of this blog. If you see something you like, simply send me an email. Currently, the partial list includes:
- RepublicanWeblog.com
- DemocraticWeblog.com
- BangYourHead.com
- BornSalesman.com
- MarketingJunkie.com
- SuperKickass.com
- BBQLand.com (Pending transfer. I bought this one just because I wanted to put up my own web store, which will help me relate to my online retailing clients ...)
- and many more.
As the months roll on, I'm sure I'll be acquiring others and adding them to my inventory. I also own EcommerceConsulting.com and, of course, "Search Engine Experts" -- either of which might (not sure yet) be sold off in order that I may continue the build out of my core executive search business.
In case you are wondering, my SEO recruiting business would be managed at one (or all) of the following domains:
- SEORecruiter.com
- SEORecruiters.com
- SEORecruiting.com
- SEMRecruiter.com
- SEMRecruiters.com, and
- SEMRecruiting.com
Thanks for reading!
